Increasing Work From Home Benefits Small Towns

Placemake .io and Visitor Insights analysed over 500 anonymous UK phone data records from 2019 to 2022 and found increased activity in small towns. This is credited to the continuing work-from-home trend where fewer people plan to return to the office.
Towns and suburbs are seeing a gradual increase in footfall, where residents are willing to spend more time in their local community. Towns with shops, offices and housing all within 15-minute walking distance have seen the most significant increase in the local population.
While this isn’t local data, it’s plain that there’s a similar shift for Australians wanting to achieve their preferred work/life balance. Post-COVID, we’re more aware of how our jobs can support our lives, not vice-versa; we also no longer tied to a geographical location just for work.
So as an employer, how can you pivot to support a growing flexible workforce?
